Paving slabs
Start with your laying pattern and the dimensions of the space. Specify slab lengths, widths, thicknesses and edge style. Ask about achievable sizes in the selected stone, and agree tolerances before placing an order.
Cobbles and setts
Give the finished face dimensions and thickness, together with the desired surface and edge finish. Clarify whether the quantity is measured by pieces or area. Intended use and installation design should guide the final specification.
Pool coping and corners
Provide a dimensioned plan of the pool edge. State the coping width, thickness, edge profile and any return or drop-face detail. Curved sections and corners need their own dimensions; do not assume a straight coping piece will cover them.
Steps and risers
List tread and riser sizes separately. Identify bullnose, sawn or other edge details and provide a drawing where the profile is important. Coordinate dimensions and installation requirements with your designer or contractor.
Allow for cuts and replacements
Ask your installer to calculate cutting allowance and reserve material for the actual layout. The right allowance depends on the pattern, dimensions and complexity. Confirm the final ordered quantity separately from the net installation area.
Send a clear schedule
A simple table with stone, finish, length, width, thickness, quantity and unit helps avoid ambiguity. Attach drawings for custom pieces and give your delivery destination so the quotation can address the complete requirement.
